Fox News reports that during a town hall gathering in New York City yesterday (5/2/2025), an hysterical protestor yelling ‘genocide’ in Gaza had to be removed from the event as U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who has been traveling across the United States with U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on his ‘Fighting Oligarchy’ tour, attempted to begin her comments.
Ocasio-Cortez (otherwise known by many as ‘AOC’) reportedly has ambition for higher office, with the congresswoman raking in $9.6 million over the last three months alone. The record-breaking fundraising haul was one of the biggest ever for any member of the U.S. House of Representatives. AOC’s team asserts that the fundraising came from 266,000 individual donors, with an average contribution of only $21.00.

My brothers and sisters, the question that will undoubtedly be asked is why is this story being reported? The answer is because it bears mentioning that in the political climate of the United States, there remains a strong number, and some would argue a majority, of persons who support ideology which completely excludes any acknowledgment of the goodness of God, the need for salvation found only in Christ Jesus, and the incredible benefits, personally and otherwise, with genuinely living a life based on a Biblical Worldview.
The protestor yelling at AOC in the town hall, as has happened many other times recently, is screaming about the situation in Gaza – representing a classic ‘eating their own’ situation. Genuine truth does not usually result in the internal destruction of those promoting that truth – such as needing to seek the wisdom of God first, not the wisdom of the world; however, in a worldview void of the goodness of God and His predominance in our lives, the truth becomes whatever evil minds and hearts say it is.
This writer simply prays that God would soften hardened hearts and open the eyes and ears of those who need Jesus. So many need to know the truth of the Bible, which promotes peace and goodness in our society by changing us from-the-inside-out, with an unapologetic dependence upon the wisdom and the goodness of God! We need to seek and worship God FIRST, and not our political idols – who so often have grown to think more highly of themselves than they ought.
As the Bible tells us, we should pray to never consider ourselves more highly than we ought:
Romans 12:3 (Amplified Bible)
“For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service].”
Regarding AOC being shouted down by her own (former) supporters for the very political positions she has espoused for years, the Bible speaks plainly:
Ecclesiastes 10:8 (Amplified Bible)
“He who digs a pit [for others] may fall into it, and a serpent may bite him who breaks through a [stone] wall.”
The Bible also makes it clear that the richest or loudest person in the room is not necessarily the one speaking godly wisdom:
Ecclesiastes 9:16-18 (NKJV)
“Then I said: ‘[w]isdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, [a]nd his words are not heard. Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard [r]ather than the shout of a ruler of fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war; [b]ut one sinner destroys much good.’”
