All Israel News reports that following U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s May 5, 2025 surprise announcement that the United States had unilaterally entered into a ceasefire with Houthi rebels, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to the Israeli public in a short video, stating that:

“First of all, we are dealing with it, and the rule that I have set is [that] Israel will defend itself by itself.  We are doing this in Yemen; we are doing this in other places; and the distances are very great.  Israel has a long arm and we will deploy it.  If others join us, our American friends – all the better.  If they don’t join, we will defend ourselves by ourselves.”

My brothers and sisters, President Trump’s relationship with Israel broadly, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu specifically, seems to be like most foreign policy relationships of the Trump administration – a bit confused (or at least confusing).

As a longtime and steadfast ally, and considering that the United States until the day before the announcement had been providing military support for Israel’s attacks against Yemen’s Houthi rebels, to broadside the leader of the only free and genuine ally the United States has in the entire Middle East seems ill-advised.

Typically, such matters would be coordinated and handled ‘under the radar’, so for Israel to immediately acknowledge that it was blindsided, speaks volumes.

Let’s pray that no matter what happens geopolitically (and yes, spiritually) between Israel and United States, mutual respect would reign and that bravado and would be limited.

The Bible reminds us that true wisdom comes from the Lord, who is a shield for those who walk with integrity!

Proverbs 2:6-8 (NLT)
“For the Lord grants wisdom!  From [H]is mouth come knowledge and understanding.  He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.  He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.  He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to [H]im.”

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)
“‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, [n]or are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord.  ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, [s]o are My ways higher than your ways, [a]nd My thoughts than your thoughts.’”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
