FAITHWIRE published an article yesterday (3/5/2025) by regarding the Christian recording artist and worship leader Chris Tomlin, who is stepping into a new role: executive producer.  Tomlin is seated in the producer’s chair for the new movie, “The Last Supper,” set to debut in theaters nationwide on March 14, 2025.

The film centers on the days leading up to Judas’ betrayal of Jesus as the Savior’s closest followers gather for a final meal before His impending crucifixion.

When he was approached by the creators of “The Last Supper,” Tomlin said they asked if he had a song — or could write one — that would work for the film.  Finding a song tied to a theatrically-released movie was certainly not on Tomlin’s radar when he wrote “No Greater Love” alongside Tyler Hubbard of the country music duo Florida Georgia Line, but it worked perfectly.

Pinnacle Peak Pictures presents an introduction by Chris Tomlin and the official movie trailer for “The Last Supper” on YouTube:

The Bible speaks of the Last Supper (Passover meal) the disciples shared with Jesus and how Judas (called Iscariot) was called out as the betrayer of Jesus.

Luke 22:14-22 (Amplified Bible)
The Lord’s Supper (Passover)
“When the hour [for the meal] had come, Jesus reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.  He said to them, ‘I have earnestly wanted to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.’  And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, ‘[t]ake this and share it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.’  And when He had taken bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘[t]his is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’  And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, ‘[t]his cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant [ratified] in My blood.  But listen, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.  For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe (judgment is coming) to that man by whom He is betrayed and handed over [emphases mine]!’”

Got Questions presents a concise and informative article on the meaning of Passover, which is a Jewish festival celebrating the exodus from Egypt and the Israelites’ freedom from slavery to the Egyptians.

The Feast of Passover, along with the Feast of Unleavened Bread, was the first of the festivals to be commanded by God for Israel to observe (see Exodus 12).

Jews commemorate Passover today with a special meal called the Seder, featuring unleavened bread and other food items symbolic of various aspects of the exodus.

Passover and the story of the exodus have great significance for Christians, as Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law.  Jesus is our Passover.  He was killed at Passover time, and the Last Supper was a Passover meal.

1 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
“Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened.  For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.”

My brothers and sisters, by (spiritually) applying the blood Jesus shed upon the cross to our lives by faith, we trust Christ to save us from spiritual death and perdition, with the blood of the Lamb washing away our sin and bringing the promise of eternal life in the very presence of Almighty God!

Revelation 12:10-11 (NKJV)
We Overcome the Evil One by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of Our Testimony
“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘[n]ow salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.  And they overcame him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.’”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
