For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

James 1:23-24

I do this sometimes and I’m sure we’re all guilty of this.

A good example is when something happens that causes us to fear, even though God has told us time and time again, to “FEAR NOT.”

We read it over and over, then close our book and forget what we just learned.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced.

Psalm 105:5

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your holy deeds.”

Psalm 77:11-12

We often forgot how we’re to treat people, how we’re to forgive others, how we’re to exemplify Christ…and so on.

The bottom line is this, we’re supposed to;

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (James 1:22)

By now, we’ve all heard the Truth!

We know what is expected of us and how to act.

We’ve been to church, bible study, and have seen miracles happen all around us.

So, we are without excuse!

We simply cannot just read the word of God, we have to put it into practice in order for it to be beneficial to us.

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

James 4:17

The Bible is like a mirror. When we look into it, we see ourselves as we really are in God’s eyes. -O. S. Hawkins

We must Pray, study, read, memorize… then go apply it to our daily lives.

Many Blessings,

Connie
