A Gentle Tongue…

Good morning beautiful people, good morning. This past weekend someone shared with me some words that were spoken that really hurt. The words were cutting, painful and caused some inner hurts for that individual. I love this person dearly, I felt like crying myself. Words are so powerful. If we don’t have the words to build up and edify then we would be wise to keep our mouths closed. Every person has strengths and weaknesses, and all are loved by God.

The most expensive perfume, the most beautiful attire can’t hide what’s in the heart. For out of the mouth, the heart speaketh. (Matthew 12:34)

I remember a person that was mean, just really mean and treated me accordingly. I would go home and get on my knees, and I would talk to God about this mean woman I had encountered. I wanted to know what he was going to do with her. Funny how God changes us. Through this experience, I learned she was hurting deeply, and my gentle answers and prayers were needed.

I am thankful today that we walk with a God that a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In his faithfulness, he will bring forth justice. (Isaiah 24:3) I love journeying life with a God of justice. God is a God of love. I want to be more like him. How about you?

Let’s Pray:

Father, thank you for being a God of justice. Proverbs 15:1 tells us that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Father, help our tongues to be filled with kindness and compassion, forgiving one another just as Christ forgave us. (Ephesians 4:32)

Father, thank you that nothing can separate us from your love. From the Crown of Maine to seven continents of the world, let the love of God flow like a river through every means possible.

Father, baptize us in love. Amen.

I Corinthians 13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  For we know in part, and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
