NATO Affirms It Has No Plans To Put Boots On The Ground In Ukraine

According to a Newsmax report today, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told The Associated Press that NATO had no plans to send combat troops into Ukraine amid reports that some Western countries may be independently considering putting boots on the ground pursuant to bilateral deals.

NATO currently provides Ukraine only non-lethal aid and support such as medical supplies, uniforms and winter equipment, although some member nations send weapons and ammunition bilaterally or in groups.  Any decision for NATO to send troops would require unanimous support from all member countries.

Yesterday (2/26/2024), top officials from over 20 countries discussed options to increase help for Ukraine at a conference held in Paris.  French President Emmanuel Macron, who hosted the meeting, said that sending Western troops on the ground in Ukraine should not be “ruled out” in the future, as Russia’s full-scale invasion grinds into a third year.  He also stated that “we will do everything needed so Russia cannot win the war.”

The Newsmax article may be read HERE.

My brothers and sisters, as this writer has expressed in multiple FGGAM articles recently, war is not a choice of “first resort” and should not be pursued unless truly necessary; however, if a war is thrust upon a nation, the nation should fight to win.  The endgame should be complete victory – as “proportional” war fighting simply results in extending a war (and all of the associated deaths, infrastructure destruction and economic hardships) into the future and creates an unsettled environment without a definitive resolution.

It was, sadly, illustrative and striking to me what French President Macron said yesterday regarding NATO’s support to Ukraine:  “[w]e [NATO] will do everything needed so Russia cannot win the war [emphasis mine].”  Words have meaning, and all the more so when stated to the world as a representative of an international agency such as NATO.  Keeping an aggressor nation from winning a war is NOT the same thing as working to assure victory for the attacked nation.

It is also striking that NATO will not, supposedly, directly interfere or participate in fighting for Ukraine against Russia, yet, has clearly stated that after the war (assuming Ukraine still exists), has given assurances to make Ukraine part of NATO – including the protections and military action necessary to prevent a future attack against it by Russia.  Without seeming like a warmonger, does this not seem a bit odd and self-serving or akin to wanting things “both ways?”

Pray!  As believers, let’s pray for an quick, just and definitive end to the war brought upon Ukraine (not “the Ukraine” as many mainstream news agencies cleverly throw into reports – let the reader understand).

Thousands upon thousands of military and civilian lives have been lost, maimed, kidnapped, raped and relocated as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war.  Political shortsightedness and a lack of understanding regarding Post-WWII events, including the former Soviet Union’s division of Germany into communism and the resulting Cold War, should not be allowed to dismiss the reality of what is happening today at the behest of Russian President Vladimir Putin!

The truth matters.  Politics is not the answer.  Strength, victory and healing are found only in Christ Jesus:

Isaiah 5:20 (NKJV)
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; [w]ho put darkness for light, and light for darkness; [w]ho put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

Psalm 29:11 (NKJV)
“The Lord will give strength to His people; [t]he Lord will bless His people with peace.”

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)
“He [God] heals the brokenhearted [a]nd binds up their wounds.”

Praise God that we have the authority in the name of Jesus and the incredible power of His blood to bind evil and to loose the kingdom of God over this situation:

Matthew 18:18-20 (NKJV)
“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.  Again[,] I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.  For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

The bible makes it clear that there are times and seasons for all things:

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (Amplified Bible)
A Time for Everything
“There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven—[a] time to be born and a time to die; [a] time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.  A time to kill and a time to heal; [a] time to tear down and a time to build up.  A time to weep and a time to laugh; [a] time to mourn and a time to dance.  A time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones; [a] time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.  A time to search and a time to give up as lost; [a] time to keep and a time to throw away.  A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; [a] time to keep silent and a time to speak.  A time to love and a time to hate; [a] time for war and a time for peace [emphasis mine].”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
