Former President Donald J. Trump Wins Iowa Caucuses In Historic 30-Point Landslide

Credit: ABC News [abcnews.go.com]

Newsmax reports that former U.S. President Donald J. Trump secured a resounding win in the first 2024 Republican presidential contest in Iowa yesterday (1/15/2024) – asserting his command over the GOP by receiving 51% of the votes.

Governor Ron DeSantis and Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley both finished well behind Trump.  Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy suspended his presidential campaign shortly after being projected to finish a distant fourth in the caucuses, throwing his support behind Trump.

Trump dominated across the board.  According to an Edison entrance poll, he won a majority among both men and women, among those who consider themselves somewhat or very conservative, among independents, and among those with or without college degrees.  He also captured a majority of Republicans who consider immigration and the state of the economy as their top concerns.

My brothers and sisters, every news agency in the free world has or will be reporting on last evening’s Iowa caucuses.  Regardless of whether one supports former U.S. President Donald J. Trump, it is inescapable and would be intellectually dishonest to paint last evening’s record-breaking dominance in the Iowa caucuses as anything other than remarkable.

When considering the current state of affairs in the U.S. federal government, the difference in approach and policies (enacted or promised) between the Republican and Democratic Parties could hardly be more stark than they are right now.

Depending on one’s perspective, former President Trump is either the most persecuted, the most prosecuted, or both, politician in modern times.  In a secular sense, the man once beloved by many, including Hollywood elites, became “Enemy No. 1” before he even entered the White House in 2017 because of his personal move to more conservative and Christian views.

In some ways, this is not dissimilar to former President Ronald Reagan, who became a conservative politician later in life; however, even Reagan was not so vehemently despised and perpetually attacked.  Why do we as Christians praise God for His willingness to cleanse us of sin, to change our hearts and minds, and to make us new creations – unless the person in question might hold differing political views?  Something to humbly consider…

For the record, neither this writer, and certainly not FGGAM, will become a mouthpiece for any political party, politician or candidate, but to fail to report the obvious or shellac the truth is unwise.  The choice Americans will face this winter and spring during the primaries, and the upcoming 2024 general election this November, will determine the fate of the U.S. for a very long time.

If one believes that our lives should be based upon the truth of the scriptures (e.g., a biblical worldview), then it seems logical to support elected officials who tend to affirm policy positions consistent with the truth of scripture, including the sanctity of life, freedom in Christ, and worship of the Creator and not the creation.

Sadly, the current U.S. administration proudly supports on demand abortion and a globalist view of the world; an immigration “policy” that is so absurd that this writer doesn’t even have sufficient words to describe it; support for environmentalism to the point of idolism; and an apologetic or incompetent foreign policy (e.g., Afghanistan), with the failure to project military power in a manner to prevent or deter aggression and to sustain the support of critical allies – choosing instead to bolster countries such as Iran with monetary rewards and communist China by declaring to the world that the U.S. policy position is that Taiwan should NOT be a separate country.

All of this to say that the Iowa caucuses were the first “litmus test” as to how U.S. citizens are feeling about the direction of our country.  Time will tell, but it seems that Americans may be beginning to come back to the view that in civil government, policy is what drives outcomes, not emotions or personal ideologies.  I’ll just say it, America is a country founded upon trust in, and the blessing of, God – a country that has been, and should continue to be, a beacon of light and a blessing to other countries of the world.

So where is the truth found?  Well, the Truth is a Person and His name is Jesus!  The more our country disassociates itself with the goodness of God and the salvation only found in Christ Jesus, the weaker we will become.  Pray!  Pray for the wisdom of our leaders and all of our citizen voters to make prayerfully-considered choices this year.  It is not an exaggeration to say that lives depend upon this!  Let’s pray that the U.S. will always remain a country in which it is considered good to exalt the name of Jesus and to first, and unapologetically, seek the will of the Father in all things!

A warning about seeking the wisdom of the world:

1 Corinthians 3:18-19 (NKJV)
“Let no one deceive himself.  If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.  For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness…’”.

Our response:

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
“…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

The Truth:

John 14:6 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to [Thomas], ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
