Thankful, Grateful, Blessed

Thankful, Grateful, Blessed

And the grace of our Lord flowed out superabundantly and beyond measure for me, accompanied by faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is sure and true and worthy of full and universal acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost.  1 Timothy 1:14-15

I feel like I’ve started several articles this way lately, but it has been a rough couple of months for us. First my husband had to have a hip replacement, had some issues and ended up back in the hospital for a week. Then, just as it seemed he was making progress toward recovery, we both came down with Covid. Not the kinder, gentler Covid, but the nasty version.

Even in the midst of all that has hit us lately, I sit back and realize just how very blessed we are. God has provided for our every need, He has placed family and people around us that have texted, called and sent cards of encouragement. Our family is healthy and we will be joining together this week to celebrate Thanksgiving at the home of my oldest daughter. I am blessed.

When things go wrong, it is easy to take our eyes off of God and focus on the negative. We can become a bitter and complaining people and if we aren’t careful, we can become “stuck.”

Have you ever been around someone who oozes ungratefulness? They are not pleasant to be around.

God’s word tells us, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lod.” (Psalm 150:6)

I believe there is healing in that. As we find things to be thankful for and begin to lift up praise to the Lord, our whole being feels lighter. Our hope is renewed.

“Heavenly Father, we praise you in this moment. No matter what is going on in the news or in our homes today, we know that you are greater. Thank you for the small things that we often take for granted. Thank you for sending your son so that we might have life! Thank you for hope and a future. Thank you that you love each and every one of us.” In Jesus Name, Amen
