Fox News is reporting that the US Capitol Police acknowledged that it did stop the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir’s performance of the National Anthem on May 26 because of a “miscommunication.”

Capitol Police initially issued a statement that said they were under the impression the group didn’t have permission to perform in the building but clarified later that they “were not aware that the Speaker’s Office had approved this performance.”

My brother and sisters, I understand that this sort of error can happen, given that security and policy at the capitol building is undoubtedly complex; however, it seems that stopping a children’s choir in the midst of the National Anthem could have been handled with much more consideration, discretion and sensitivity.  And the more excuses offered, the less palatable this whole situation becomes.  Admit what happened and move on, because not everything in life centers on left vs. right politics!
