(Sudan, Africa) REUTERS reports that following the April 15, 2023 eruption of war in Khartoum between supporters of Army Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Rapid Support Forces (“RSF”) Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, orphaned babies and infants are dying within orphanage care centers.

In Khartoum, Dr. Abeer Abdullah initially rushed between rooms at Sudan’s largest state-run orphanage, The Orphan’s Care Centre – Mygoma, trying to care for hundreds of babies and toddlers as the fighting kept all but a handful of staff away.  Then came waves of deaths, with more than 50 babies dying of severe malnutrition, dehydration and infections since the start of the war.

My brothers and sisters, this is horrifying and turns the stomach.  As we celebrate Memorial Day today in the United States, many in the armed forces around the world – whether righteously or not – continue to die.  Worse yet, the truly innocents, like many of these orphans, are dying what has to be slow and painful deaths.  Lord Jesus!  Oh Lord…

Please pray for the end of this civil war.  Pray all the more for the lives of Sudan’s most innocent!  The irony of now twice-abandoned, orphaned babies dying in sweltering heat with no food, water or medical care is sickening.  Praise God that these children are now in the loving arms of Jesus, but they should not have had to die like this!  The evil one is running rampant in this world.  We must stay strong in the Lord and pray for peace within all of Sudan!

The Lord intimately knows and loves every one of us, including these babies and infants.  Lord have mercy!

Psalm 139:13-14 (NKJV)
“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; [m]arvelous are Your works, [a]nd that my soul knows very well.”
