Americans Believe in Easter Resurrection But Aren’t Sure Why It Matters

Crucifixion and Resurrection. Empty tomb of Jesus with crosses in the background. Easter or Resurrection concept. He is Risen.

Despite accepting the biblical accounts of Jesus’ resurrection, many Americans see little connection with their daily lives.

By Aaron Earls from Lifeway Research:

Most Americans believe Jesus rose from the dead on the first Easter Sunday. They’re just not sure it matters much.

Two-thirds of U.S. adults (66%) say the biblical accounts of the physical resurrection of Jesus are completely accurate. They believe this event actually occurred, according to the 2022 State of Theology study. Fewer than a quarter (23%) disagree, and 11% say they’re not sure. More Here

Today in Holy Week is often called Silent Wednesday. On this day Jesus did nothing recorded in Scripture. Why is that fact so relevant to your soul and mine?

I recently read a fascinating article in The Atlantic on the state of Christian music today. The essay reminds us of an era when Christians such as Bach, Beethoven and Tolkien shaped and dominated the arts.  It notes theologian N. T. Wright’s call for believers “to be at the leading edge of the whole culture.”
