This Christmas while writing this,
I’m thinking about the lost, depressed and homelessness.
I’m think about the stuff that used to be important,
The latest fads, the styles, the things we really wanted.
But while I am writing and wake up to see,
There’s people on the streets with no food to eat.
There’s people under the highways with no food or beds,
Just an old dirty blanket or a bag to rest their heads.
As the commercials pound us with what to buy,
We look past the hurting and sometimes sigh.
We focus on us and less on the lost,
Because I’m more important no matter the cost.
I worked hard for what I get, why should I give?
Sweating everyday so someone else can live.
But at the same time where’s the humanity,
We don’t know their story or even their sanity.
Some lost everything at no fault of their own,
Many just need compassion and a little love shown.
The Love of Jesus is what this world needs,
Not stuff, or Money that just breads greed.
Don’t get me wrong Money is not the curse,
It’s the Love of that Money as written in the verse.
If we could just focus on loving one another,
The people on the streets might have some shelter.
The people who are hurting might see the light,
The light of Jesus Christ to help their plight.
So today I want to encourage you today and beyond,
Show love, find Christ and help someone along.
Because this Christmas while I sit here writing this,
I’m praying for the lost, depressed and the homeless.
