We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. — 1 John 2:3-6

Sixteen times in this—the Apostle John’s first epistle—he uses the expression, “We know,” and covers the gamut from the necessity of our obedience to the Lord’s commands, to the onslaught of the many antichrists that will appear before the final one. Plus, how blessed our love can be for one another and our Lord’s eternal love for us. He tells us how to recognize truth and falsehood by the power of the Holy Spirit we have been given—and how our prayer life, when combined with His will, always leads to a positive reply. What a letter to study! This is my first major full-length book and it’s all about God’s Word. — Maranatha!
