Remembering 9/11

Pastor Dewey Note: I will never forget that day. I was walking to my gate in the Albuquerque Airport that morning. I was scheduled to fly to South Bend, Indiana to do training at WFRN radio. I saw on a TV in one the airport cafes these buildings on fire. I did not know what was going on. I just thought that it was a bad fire some place. Then over the public address system I heard something like this: Attention! All flights have been grounded due to an emergency. I was stunned at the news and the aftermath. It still is like a horror movie to me.

This is from Joni and Friends:

Alex, his wife Silvia, and their family arrived at their first Joni and Friends Warrior Getaway dealing with the far-reaching effects of post-traumatic stress. Alex served for 15-plus years as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist in the Army, honoring fallen soldiers by recovering their remains on the battlefield and ensuring they were brought back home for proper burial.

“I was speechless when I got to the Pentagon. It was a scene of destruction like a real-life horror movie. I have no words to explain it.

When I first came to Warrior Getaway, I couldn’t even talk about it. But now I can tell my story, sometimes with tears, because Warrior Getaway gave me the tools and hope I need to survive.”
