We are going on 80 days without measurable rain in Albuquerque. Even with a good rain, we are in such a severe drought it will take much rain and snow in the coming year to make a dent. According to the Secretary of Homeland Security of New Mexico, we have lost nearly a million acres due to the fires thus far here in 2022! AND IT IS ONLY JUNE! Trees are dying in the Albuquerque area, I see it everyday. In the park we walk/run most everyday, Mariposa Park, several trees are dying. People must deep water their vegetation, surround your trees and shrubs with a good mulch, I also use a mushroom and manure mix that works excellent in our climate. Fertilize them 3 times a year. If we do not take care of God’s creation, we are in deep trouble. With all the tress that have burned up this year in New Mexico our environment has been greatly damages. We need trees to live. “Without them, we lose extraordinary and essential functions for life on Earth.” Trees’ services to this planet range from carbon storage and soil conservation to water cycle regulation. They support natural and human food systems and provide homes for countless species – including us, through building materials. Too much rock landscaping is bad.
