Pictures from Scott Chandler. I just got off the phone with Scott of Deming, New Mexico who is part of the massive volunteer effort assisting ranchers in the Winston area as the Black Fire rages here in New Mexico. These folks are true American heroes! I cried as I talked with Scott because it reminded me what true heroes are, sacrificing like mad to help others! Coming to the aid of people in great need at this time. No time to wait for state and federal help! This is an all-American story. Here is the latest posting from Scott:
Recently we have been a part of a massive volunteer effort assisting ranchers in the Winston area to evacuate their cattle as the Black Fire rages virtually unchecked and continues its path of destruction, burning the Gila. Black Fire Blows Up in New Mexico, Devastating ranches, allotments, threatening historic cabins, structures, and now even their homes. It has been humbling to see many neighbors, friends, and others from this small community pull together to provide their time, horses, trucks, and trailers in this massive rescue effort.
Work is ongoing, and displaced animals need feed ( and lots of it). If you have quality hay, such as needed for horses and mules. Cow hay or other feed such as cotton, milo stubble, wheat, etc.. is sorely needed as hundreds of momma cows, baby calves, and bulls. Even dog food would be appreciated as this fire’s devastation does not discriminate against who or what it chooses as it plows through the Gila.
If you can help with hauling(rigs, fuel, logistics), this is also a way you can assist. If you have feed or can help with hauling, fuel, or want to donate to help out msg me here or text my cell 575.544.1340.
Lastly, Colette Chandler and I would like to thank those who reached out inquiring about our family and the Tierra Blanca Ranch. The ranch is not in immediate danger from this fire. Pray for the families of those under siege and especially the many firefighters, First responders, and Law Enforcement working day and night to bring this fire under control and the other fires raging throughout New Mexico. Pray as well rain comes early this year.
