Change we Must

As I looked outside this morning and saw another of winter’s last attempts to stay, I moaned at the sight of snow on the porch.  But then I reminded myself: Spring is here in spite of what the weather is outside.  Just yesterday, I heard the geese fly over, announcing their return.  Spring has come, but winter’s holding on…like temptation…like Satan does when fighting for lost souls. There’s no joy in winter’s pull, or Satan’s, so why hang on?  But spring, like Jesus, offers rest…

“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11: 28-30

Feeling poetic, these words came forth:

Change is hard, but change we must.  Let go of pride, give Him our trust.

Even nature fights the change, but soon the snow gives way to rain.

Drop the pretense, and the mask.  For His forgiveness simply ask.

Only He can see inside, our heart, our hurt, our guilt, our pride.

Winter finds it hard to leave, as Satan fights, our hearts deceive.

Listen not to doubts and fear.  His “Come to me” is loud and clear.

He came to save, not to condemn.  He’ll give us rest, forgive our sin.

Change is hard, but change we must. Let go of sin, give Him your trust.

Past the winter’s cold we see.  Sunshine waits for you and me.

Past the heartaches and sin, new life in Christ we can begin.

Satan’s hold we feel today, will be released.  Hate will not stay.

The power in Jesus’ name alone, will knock him off his earthly throne.

Jesus lives, we seek His will.  He’s just as strong, determined still.

That not one soul be lost, for our salvation paid the cost.

Then the stone was rolled away, and it reminds us still today:

In Christ Jesus place your trust.  Change is hard, but change we must!
