As baseball announcer Harry Carey used to say, “HOLY COW”  Congrats! Rachel Balkovec! I remember back in the early 70’s when Windom, Minnesota High School Football Coach Ron Meyer gave a girl the opportunity to play football! I know her last name was Flatguard, first name Kathy? I hate it that my memory is not always good! She tried out as a kicker.  I am telling you that these women that play college softball, can outplay many men! There may come a time when MLB sees its first woman player! What do you think?

This season, Balkovec will be managing a Class A minor league affiliate.

Balkovec, 34, is set to become the manager of the Yankees’ Low-A Tampa Tarpons. More Here
