One Man with a call on his life, the call to ending segregation. The call to stand with people from all walks of life no matter what color they were. One Man who understood that we were all created equally, and that skin is just a covering not a way to determine who a person truly was. A Man who hoped to see unity among all Men, without having to use violence. A Man who was not perfect but was used by God to answer a call to justice. A Man who regardless of his own safety was tired and stood up against the mistreatment of his people. A Man who would forever be a part of not only American History but world history for standing up for people’s rights. A Man who in my book was a great man and played a great role in the freedom I have today as an American (I am an American who just happens to have Brown Skin and called a Black Man). That Man was Dr. Martin Luther King.
He is a hero to many, a light to many, courageous to many, an example of nonviolent protesting, an example of what we should do when we feel our rights are being wronged based on the color of our skin. A Man who said:
“When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, ‘Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!’ ”
Will that day ever come? One day it will, but its going to take us shutting off the mainstream media, us loving one another as God had commanded, us being educated on the fact that THERE IS ONLY ONE RACE….THE HUMAN RACE. Us being educated on the fact that SKIN IS JUST A PROTECTIVE COVERING FOR OUR BODIES (Skin Definition: Provides a protective barrier against mechanical, thermal, and physical injury and hazardous substances. Prevents loss of moisture. Reduces harmful effects of UV radiation. Acts as a sensory organ (touch, detects temperature).
Once we believe these statements about Race and skin then maybe just maybe we can start looking at each other based on our Character… When will it happen, maybe after Jesus Returns we don’t know but it can start where you live right now by how you treat others. Don’t treat others a certain way based on what you hear or see, base it on the time you have spent with them and learn for yourself who they really are. That’s how we take this problem on, one person at a time. Jesus said to Love the Lord your God and Love your neighbor, how about we try that and see how things go in 2022.
So, in closing, I say thank You to the Late Dr. Martin Luther King and All those who linked arms with him to help get us to where we are today. Some of you are still alive and I say Thank You all and Thank You to the King Family as you continue to be a pillar in our great Nation. Blessings and Love To You ALL
