One Plus One…

Good morning beautiful people, good morning. Recently, I told a friend a story about a child I know that was learning math. I believe she was in first grade, if this mother remembers correctly. The daughter called it the new math she was learning. One plus one equals three.

Her mother would take apples, and tried hard to teach this child one plus one equals two, to no avail. One day, her mother out of fustration, simply gave up. She told her daughter, you know what? You can just get it wrong. Your new math just isn’t working. The daughter insisted the new math was right and her mother was wrong.

In the years that followed, this mother hired a tutor to assist her child. The daughter finally discovered her new math concept was wrong and one plus one equaled two. Today, that child holds proudly an accounting degree along with a business degree. Maybe, just maybe  her mother was right. One plus one is two.

I love God’s Word. He tells us he returns double. In Isaiah 61 he tells us about the double portion. The Bible is full of scriptures on trusting God. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) One plus one equals two.

Everyday, we all have different experiences. Sometimes it’s a gain and sometimes it’s a loss. If we take God at his Word and believe, we shall receive double for our loss. Yes, one plus one equals two. The double blessing, God and man.

Today, let’s thank God for returning double in every area that we have experienced loss according to his Word and thank him for his goodness and mercy. Amen? Amen.

Let’s Pray:

Father, thank you that we can dwell in the secret place. (Psalm 91) Father, you tell us to be still and know that you are God. You will be exalted among the nations, you will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10). Father, we exalt you today. You are our greatest treasure. Be God over our lives, everything we own, will ever own, our desires and everything that pertains to us, we pray.

Father, Isaiah 61 your Word tells us instead of our shame we will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace we will rejoice in our inheritance. And so we will inherit a double portion in our land, and everlasting joy will be ours. “For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and wrong doing. In my faithfulness, I will reward your people and make an everlasting covenant with them. Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed. (Isaiah 61:7-9)

Father, thank you for the double blessing. Yes, one plus one equals two, and we receive. Amen.

Have a blessed day God’s most beautiful people. You are the apple of his eye.

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 17:8

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. Psalm 23:6
