All Veterans of Peace and Freedom

November 11th was selected to be our day to pay tribute to all American veterans for all time because World War I, “The Great War”, was officially considered to be over when a peace agreement, or temporary ending of fighting, between Germany and the Allied nations went into effect on November 11, 1918, “the war to end all wars.”

I am personally honored to be counted among those of our veterans, having served and endured Vietnam 1966 through 1967 and survived.  America’s men and women of her military forces are among the best and the bravest to be found anywhere in the world.

We have many still living Veterans walking through our lives everyday basically invisible to us, some of whom carry scars of their service to the nation both and or physical and emotional; for them their battle rages on.  We are so sorry for your sacrifices, and yet extremely grateful.  Thank you!

It is my hope and prayer that all of America’s living Veterans of all conflicts and every branch of our bold forces will feel appreciated, honored, and loved on this their special day.   I encourage all fellow American citizens to find a way to do something good for at least one veteran this Veteran’s Day.  You will feel all the better for it and you cannot imagine what it may do for your veteran brother or sister.  Not enough can ever be said to express our gratitude for all the willing sacrifices to serve as our protectors and guarantors of our freedom.  To all our American veteran heroes, I say, Thank You!

In addition to our brave and sacrificing military Veterans, there is another breed of sacrificing persons for which I want to thank and honor . . . our Veterans of the Altar; those selfless Christians who give their lives quietly for the betterment of their friends, families and fellow citizens of this grand Nation called America, through prayer.

But beloved, there is a flawed opinion in present-day Christianity that those who are intercessors are an extraordinary category of exclusive Christians, whom God has called to a special life of intercession.  Nevertheless, the Scriptures are unmistakable in their assertion that all who are following Jesus Christ are called or commanded to be intercessors.    Actually, to not arbitrate for others before God is sin.  “As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you” (1 Samuel 12:23).

God summons all Christians to be intercessors.  Somehow, it is God’s personal need that every believer is given to intercessory prayer.   What a breathtaking freedom it is to be capable to appear boldly yet humbly before the Throne of our Creator God with prayers of intercession!   Rightful intercessory prayer seeks out God’s will and then presses to see it fulfilled, be that blessing or sacrifice to us!   True intercessory prayer seeks God’s glory, and man’s right to peaceful living.

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.”  (I Timothy 2:1-3)

America needs those who sacrifice both in the field of battle and at the Altar of God for the betterment of this nation!   Today, I kneel in honor of all our sacrificing Veterans!   May God bless you one and all!   Pray On!
