We all remember taking tests in school. We remember the anxiety that usually came along with these tests, right?
The reason for testing was simple, our teacher had to find out what we’ve learned and if we were ready to go on to the next level.
If we failed, at some point we’d have to retest. Sometimes we even flunked it!
As I thought about this process, it reminded me of our walk with God and the testing of our faith.
Whether we are walking in the will of our father or we have walked away from his will, we will have tests. It’s inevitable.
The trials, tests and difficulties that come our way, come to test and to prove our faith.
“For a little while you have had to suffer great and all kinds of trials.
These have come so that your faith may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
1 Peter 1:6-7
God builds our faith by testing it and trying it. Much like our teachers did in school.
Faith is like a muscle and when it’s stretched, it develops.
Scripture tells us. When the problems come that God’s trying to test our faith.
“Consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
James 1:2-3
Rest assured God has a purpose for your life and He’s going to help you through it.
His purpose is greater than the pain or the trial you’re facing right now.
Trials and tests can teach us a number of things, such as the need to draw closer to God for Help, hope and guidance.
A very important lesson He wants us to learn is to depend less on men and more on Him.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil”
Proverbs 3:5-7
“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles”
Psalm 34:17
Trials are always looming, but the Lord can use these particular seasons of tests and uncertainties to draw us closer to himself.
I’ve learned more about the Lord and have become closer to him in those times of testing than perhaps any other time of my walk with him.
Just continue trusting him and walking in his presence.
My prayer for you today is that you’d find patience to endure these tests and trials.
