So, You’re Not Being Fed at Church?

So the strange female voice said to me on the phone the other day: “Pastor McCullah, do you know what my church did to me?”

I know the Church today is not perfect; God knows it, too, but the quickest way to end a conversation with me is to begin to criticize God’s Church.   A few years ago, we had a first time lady visitor in her late 50’s arrive in our church about 35 minutes late for Worship.   She stopped by my office the next day and asked:  “Pastor Jerry, do you want me to tell you what’s wrong with your church?”

40 years of ministry have proven this to be true at least 90% of the time in my pastoral experience: a person’s commitment to a local church is a direct reflection of their commitment to Christ, no matter what they claim.

Beloved, all true believers are spiritually drawn toward a desire to have a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ.   When acting on that desire, one begins to love the Church as He loves the Church He died to ordain.

One who can easily walk away from Christ’s Church will just as easily walk away from Christ.   Do not blame the Church for your spiritual weakness or deadness.   Look to your own spiritual needs.
