This funny saying is used when we are hanging out with friends and family as a comeback remark when someone says something silly. But today I chose it as the title of my post because it brings a different meaning when we look at it spiritually. As we all do this thing called life we are faced with choices daily on how we interact with others. What we need to realize is that those interactions can affect the choices and attitudes of others towards Jesus Christ and Salvation. Remember sometimes non-believers know more about the Bible than many Christians, so they sit and watch and even analyze how Christians behave to see if they really are a follower of Jesus Christ.
This shouldn’t surprise you but actually, cause you to give yourself a Check-Up from the Neck Up. We need to make sure we speak the right words to others, have the right attitude, and most importantly show grace and love to the best of our ability with help from the Holy Spirit. Paul wrote to the churches in Colossians in Chapter 3:8-11:
8 But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. 9 Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. 10 Put on your new nature and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
We must learn to put on our new nature and be renewed, and we can do that as the Apostle Paul wrote by learning to know the creator and becoming more like Him. That is the key to our walk, it’s about checking ourselves and making sure we represent Jesus Christ where ever we go. So be sure to give yourselves a checkup from the neck up and focus on your relationship with the Lord. In the second part of this 2 part message, I will share with you from the word on how we can check ourselves. Thanks for reading as always. Blessings and Love To You ALL!
