What Makes A Marriage Work? Part 1

What Makes A Marriage Work?

Part 1

Recently after my Wife and I celebrated our 30th year anniversary, Pastor Dewey Moede of For Gods Glory Alone Ministry, asked me to write a post on “What Makes a Marriage Work”, and guess what?? I said yes, however, there is no way I could answer this in less than 300 words J, so, looks like a short series is underway.

For this post, I want to share a verse that if followed and focused on daily, would truly be a top answer for helping make some marriages work.

That passage of scripture is:

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT) New Living Translation

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

If Husbands and Wives would take these verses and not only store them in their hearts but live by them daily, then when we lose our temper because it’s time to go, Love would be patient.

When our Spouses are promoted etc. Love would not be jealous…

When the thought of ruling/ lording over our Wives in a threatening way, Love would not demand its own way…

When the thought of the past hurts come up, Love would not be irritable or keep records of past wrongs…

When we feel like giving up on our marriage and can’t see a way to fix it, Love would never give up, never lose faith would always be hopeful……. And most importantly would endure through every circumstance…

This is how powerful these verses are, they describe Christ-like Living, Christ-like Loving, and a Christ-lik Oneness towards each other.

Marriage is a journey, at times, a challenge, a romantic story, a testimony in the making, a blessing from God, a Beautiful gift between a Man and a Woman. The two become one flesh… How beautiful is that?

Want to succeed in Marriage, for starters try focusing on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 if you truly surrender to these statements, you will see a significant change in a great way.

God Bless and Love To You ALL!
