State auditor examining governor’s use of contingency fund

New Mexico Senate Republicans Request Special Audit of Governor’s Contingency Fund
SANTA FE – Today, fourteen members of the Senate Republican Caucus sent an official letter to State Auditor Brian Colón requesting a special audit of the Governor’s contingency fund. The request comes on the heels of a KOB 4 Investigates Team story that exposed potential misuses of the fund by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and her staff.
“The law makes is clear that this fund is not for the Governor’s personal entertainment,” said Senator Craig Brandt (District 40-Sandoval). “Taxpayers should not foot the bill for the Governor’s alcohol, Wagyu beef, and dry cleaning. These clearly fall outside the allowable expenditures for this fund.”
According to state law, the money in the Governor’s contingency fund “shall not be used to pay or supplement the salary of the governor or any state employee or as perquisites or allowances for state employees.” The Governor’s spokesperson previously stated that the food in question was for the Governor, her staff, and members of her security detail. The New Mexico State Police have since rebuffed the claim, citing a policy that prohibits officers from consuming taxpayer funded meals at the mansion.
“As the appropriating branch of government, the Legislature has a responsibility to protect taxpayer dollars and ensure that they are not being misused,” added Senator Greg Baca (District 29-Bernalillo and Valencia). “Preserving the public’s trust requires transparency and accountability, and we urge the State Auditor to quickly address this matter.”

I have said for years that KOB TV news reporter Chris Ramirez is a great asset to New Mexico, he digs deep to bring the news we need to know! I get upset when people throw all the media under the bus, many do a very good job. New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has slapped us all in the face with taking the tax payers money and blowing it on booze. I have always have said, nothing good happens with booze. Why does the governor and her friends need so much booze and food???!!! This is all happening when many New Mexicans are hungry, food banks have had a hard time keeping up with the need for food in New Mexico. Many families in New Mexico only get one square meal a day! Does the governor have a crock pot? Why not makes meals like Sharon and I do and many in this state do, that last for 3 to 4 days? Booze? Is there any brain power in booze? Dry cleaning bills? How about the ‘freshen up’ button on the dryer? Shoe repair??? How many shoes and boots do you have Governor? I have one pair of old tennis shoes, and two pair of dress shoes, a pair of brown and black..oh and my softball shoes! You are the governor not the Queen of New Mexico! You are to represent us all! How can you relate to the struggles many of us are having on a shoe-string budget???? Your actions on how you are using our money SPEAKS VOLUMNS! YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT US! I had predicted this over a year ago or more…. but what do I know???!!! …..I do not recognize the Republican Party anymore. It has turned very dysfunctional, about as bad as the Democrats. The Dems are also losing people. Politics in America is so dirty! I have said for over a year the GOP in New Mexico has weak leadership. The head of the GOP Steve Pearce has served his time. The GOP better get new leadership soon or it will be sunk for years. Many of my GOP friends say that if Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham runs again, she will win, as the GOP is poorly led and does not have anybody that can win the Governors office at this time. The Republican Party has failed, they have not been able to swing enough New Mexicans over to their side, one reason is Steve Peace is out of touch with the state. The GOP of New Mexico is not putting up strong enough candidates that relate to the people of New Mexico. The GOP spends much of its time preaching to the choir! I hear that from my friends in rural New Mexico. Yes, I am an old fashion news reporter, I talk to the common folk like myself, I call on the phone. The Republicans have allowed the Dems to take over the Roundhouse and pass horrific bills re: PRO-ABORTION! ASSISTED SUICIDE NEXT? LEAGALIZED POT NEXT? There are more than enough reasons why New Mexico ranks at the top of many bad rankings, including the well being of our children:

The GOP of New Mexico is not touching the hearts of so many. It shakes me to the core that I live in a state where the majority of the voters put anti-baby people in office.
Christians in New Mexico continue to lose their influence in New Mexico as the majority of the people continue to vote for pro-abortion candidates. Once again the Church loves to preach to the choir. Many Churches have failed to carry out What is The Great Commission?, which is not a suggestion from the LORD, it is HIS command to all Christians!
As far as the National GOP, I see know one worth a hoot, same with the Dems. I saw this coming years ago when in 1995 when I became an Independent, I refuse to vote for dysfunction. It is getting harder to vote because I vet my candidates by God’s Word, and it is getting hard to find any politician that abides by the WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD!
