House GOP response to Supreme Court denial of NM Constitutional concerns
Santa Fe, NM- Today (Friday) the Supreme Court today denied a constitutional question before them without an explanation.
“It is horribly unfortunate that the New Mexico Supreme Court has once again failed to respond to a significant constitutional issue that affects every New Mexican, and the processes where rules and laws are made,” said House Republican Leader Jim Townsend (Artesia). “No other body, more than the Supreme Court, has a more important duty to protecting our state’s rules of law and order.”
“Just like small business owners and parents of NM school children, legislators have lost confidence in New Mexico courts to protect our constitutional rights,” said House Republican Whip Rod Montoya (Farmington).
Thursday was rough, and we might be tempted to say what’s the use, but we mustn’t give into that. We knew it would be hard and we don’t quit just because it appears they are winning. The pendulum always swings the other way. It may take a while, but it will happen, so be encouraged.
