Psalm 50:6 And the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is judge. Selah.
Matthew 7:1-5 “Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye’; and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”
Have you ever noticed that when you judge someone for something, eventually you begin doing the same thing you judged them for? Matthew 7:1-5 is how we judge. We always have an opinion of how others should dress, act, talk, spend their money, minister, etc. We’re quick to judge others, but if you say, “Have you ever asked the Lord to judge you?”, most people tend to panic. Why? Don’t we trust Him? Don’t we know that He loves us completely and we’re safe with Him? He doesn’t care if your pants sag, or if you have tattoos or different hair. He cares about what’s in your heart.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
Why? If you look at Matthew 15:15-20 you’ll see that out of our mouths come what is on our hearts.
Judge in the Hebrew is: Krino; to judge in one’s own mind as to what is right, proper, expedient; and to deem, decide and determine what is right.
The last thing I want to do is hurt someone, so if I see something that bugs me in another person, I ask the Lord to judge me. “Lord, why does this thing bother me? Show me myself. Is this something I do, or cause another to do? Show me Lord, and let’s work this out together.” He always shows me, and something about the Lord is even if He shows you or gives you a hard word, it lands softly on your heart. He’s not mean, but He’s very kind, loving and gentle. He wants to help you grow in Him.
John 12:46-48 “I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me may not remain in darkness. And if anyone hears My sayings, and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.”
Krisis is the Hebrew word we get ‘crisis’ from. It means a decision to judge.
Verse 48 of the above passages, says there’s one who judges. It’s you, and me. I’m going to use a practical example for this. If my husband tells me I’m beautiful and I disagree or make a face, I’ve just judged myself through my eyes and didn’t believe my husband. I just created my own crisis between my head and heart.
When are we going to agree with the Lord?! I’m positive He knows what He’s talking about. Let Him judge you! He’s trustworthy.
Psalm 116:7 Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
Psalm 26:2 ‘Examine me, O LORD, and try me; Test my mind and my heart.’
Lord, examine: what I hide, what others see in me, how I think, what I say and what I do. Amen <3
