Most people do things because they feel like doing them. But when you’re depressed… you don’t feel. Or, whatever you do feel isn’t motivating you to do anything worthwhile, such as setting goals or looking for purpose. I know what that’s like. Feeling blue all the time is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad enemy. It’s a fearsome opponent that tries to convince me there’s no purpose to life; no plan. But it is not true. It is why Romans 12:2 says to, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Transformation is possible. Learn to live another way. Your emotions are unreliable; stop listening to them. Act on what God says; not on your feelings. The Word of God — and the power of the Spirit to apply it in your life — is stronger than any dark emotion that tries to convince otherwise. Believe that today.
