BIBLE MEDITATION

“The king shall have joy in Your strength, O Lord; And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

Consider the first gift, gold. In this Psalm 21 passage, David is speaking of a king. Kings wear a crown of gold. When the Wise Men brought gold, they were saying they recognized the Child of Bethlehem as a King. They even asked, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? He’s destined to reign. He has sovereign dominion.” Gold symbolizes His kingship.

You ask, “Well, how am going to crown Him?” Crown Him the way they did—with gold. If all of your wealth is not submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, you’ve not recognized Him as your sovereign king. He has a right to all you own. You say, “It’s mine.” If He is not Lord of everything you have, He’s not your Savior. His throne is not a duplex.

ACTION POINT

How will you serve Him? One way is to serve Him with your wealth. As the saying goes, “He has no hands but our hands.” Serve Him by showing His love to those in need. He requires your absolute surrender to His lordship. He is the king.
