Lord, Please, put your arms around children and families in extreme poverty so they feel comfort and hope; meet their needs both physically and spiritually. And, Lord, guide me so I can be your hands and feet pursuing justice for the poor and upholding the cause of the needy, we pray this in JESUS name, Amen!

This article written by By  of the Navajo Times made me weep. Since I moved to New Mexico I have learned much about poverty. New Mexico is a very, very poor state. For many years I have preached in rural New Mexico, mainly in Catron and Socorro County, I also have preached in Rio Arrbia and Cibola County, so much poverty….. it makes me weep. Hunger is a growing problem in many parts of New Mexico. I have made many America Native friends over the years and they have shared with me the poverty they face everyday. So many have no running water. Many Americans do not know the suffering that many are going through in our Country, it is horrible that many turn up their noses at this horrific problem,

Many times I have been called by Pastors to go minister to families from the various Pueblos at the UNM Trauma Center. Pastors know that can call me as I am close by. I have been so very blessed to meet many Native Americans, who are so very nice to me. It is an honor to serve.

in many ways, America is like a third World Country. We have a longs way to go to become a Godly nation. Now here in December 2020 right before Christmas, we are divided, so very divided, the most since the Civil War. You could see it in the streets of Washington D.C. yesterday, America at war with itself. Do not be so foolish to think there is a political solution to this great divide. JESUS is the only answer. So many Americans continue the spewing of hate on Facebook, twitter, protesting and Politicians are attacking each other. I am here to tell you this hate that many are vomiting all over is just making the matter worse. It is feeding those that hate like those who speak and post hate. If you want to help solve the problem, to be a solution to the Civil War, build bridges of love and trust with others. People cannot continue to speak hate, they are just feeding those that agree with them, they are preaching to the choir. If you truly want to help America, build bridges of trust and the love of Jesus, like our Lord commands us to do with our enemies. Do not be so foolish to think people are doing any good with their hate, they are making matters much worse. Northing is solved with hate, it just pours gasoline on an already raging fire.

There is NO HATE in the following command by our LORD:

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another:
just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.
John 13:34-35

Those who spew hate on Facebook offer no solutions to our problem of Civil War, Politicians offer no solutions to our great problems, they just attack their opponents with hate and make all sorts of promises that will never be fulfilled. The only one who never breaks a promise is our LORD.

I pray that people in America will stop drinking the KOOL-AID of Politicians and take communion with Jesus.

BIBLE MEDITATION

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

What is the great need in the world today? Is it information? We’re drowning in a sea of information. If information had been our need, God would have sent an educator. Is it technology? If technology had been the need, God would have sent a scientist. Is it money? Do you think your problems would be solved if you had more money? If money were the need, God would have sent an economist. Is there a need for more leisure? Maybe God should have sent an entertainer.

No. Our great need is salvation. So God sent a Savior.

I’m amazed (and blessed) that He sent the message to humble shepherds. Old Herod, the King, never did quite get it. He never did understand. But humble shepherds understood. Why? Because God has “…hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes…” (Luke 10:21).

ACTION POINT

Do you want to understand who Jesus Christ is today? Then lay your intellectual pride in the dust, come to Him and say, “Lord, reveal this truth to me.” Follow with a song of praise: “O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.”
