Two of the men of I have studied under for many years are now in heaven, Billy Graham and Adrian Rogers! I have read many of their books, listened to them on the radio all the time when I managed KKIM Christian Radio, I still read their devotionals everyday. God has me take much of what I have learned from Billy and Adrian and preach on it to this day! Today’s world may say ‘that is old fashion’ preaching. I say what Billy and Adrian preached is missing in many churches today, they did not hand out sugar pills, they offered God’s COMPLETE MESSAGE to all. I find that many in their 40’s and under do not know the works of these two great men of God. It concerns me who is teaching the upcoming pastors?

I am now considered by many as an ‘old fashion’ preacher, I take that as a Godly compliment. I also love this quote: Francis Shaeffer said, “Every abortion clinic should have a sign in front of it saying, “Open by the permission of the church.”

Pastor John Hagee:
We must do more than stand on our soapbox and complain. We will not be acknowledged for the problems we recognize, but for the problems we help solve.

Does the Bible speak about electing politicians? From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

Q: I don’t intend to vote this year because there are no good candidates. Does the Bible speak about electing politicians? — V.A.

A: Cynicism about politics, elections, and government is nothing new. Many feel that their vote is insignificant. If we all had this attitude, what kind of leadership would we likely get? We must not turn a blind eye to what happens in our nation.

America has gone a long way down the wrong road. If we ever needed God’s help, it is now. We should thank God that we live in a country where we have the privilege of choosing our leaders. We must never take that responsibility lightly. The Bible tells us to pray for “all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:2, NIV).

We should pray to God as we prepare to vote, and we should pray regularly for all those who are in positions of political leadership. A terrifying spiritual and moral tide of evil has already loosed us from our spiritual moorings. Monstrous new ideas that could destroy our freedoms are rushing in the vacuum. Spiritually we have wandered far from the faith of our founding fathers.

As long as we are on this earth, Christians have dual citizenship. On one hand, we owe allegiance to our nation and are called to be good citizens, and part of our duty is to elect officials to represent us. We are also citizens of the kingdom of God and we should do all we can to elect those who come the closest to upholding God’s laws, for they were handed down for the good of mankind.

“Come here and listen, O nations of the earth. Let the world and everything in it hear my words” (Isaiah 34:1, NLT).

BIBLE MEDITATION

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

Today in the US is an important election day. I trust every one of you will vote. Are you praying over your vote? Dr. Francis Schaeffer, a brilliant man, one of the foremost Christian thinkers of our time, gave us 5 principles to keep in mind when we vote. These have nothing to do with personalities or political parties. The principles guiding our vote should be:

  1. The dignity of human life
  2. The importance of the traditional family
  3. Religious freedom of speech in schools, both public and private
  4. Human rights and the need for justice in our world
  5. The compassionate use of accumulated wealth

These five ought to be in the heart and mind of every child of God. Pray over these. Then, based on God’s Word, make your determination. God will give you wisdom.

Francis Shaeffer said, “Every abortion clinic should have a sign in front of it saying, “Open by the permission of the church.”

ACTION POINT

Pray it from your heart, “God, bless America, and God, give us space to repent. And may the ones of Your choosing be elected to lead us.” Remember, “…to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin” (James 4:17).
