Supervisory Special Agent for Homeland Security James Deboer helped for months with the recovery efforts after the 9/11 terror attacks.

“I don’t think we could ever forget. … We still have to keep the memory alive,” Deboer told The Epoch Times as he visited the 9/11 memorial in New York on Thursday.

Deboer says he feels saddened by the pandemic restrictions on the ceremony, which will not include the customary live reading of the names of the victims.

“I don’t think we should ever not be able to come here and read out the names, COVID or no COVID,” he said.
