Jesus is the centre of our faith. I keep returning to the centre because I want to be centred. Here, clinging closer to Jesus, we are safe, protected, shielded from the storms of life. The storms will come; we will still be challenged, stretched, wrung out. But we will be anchored in Him. Secure, unshaken.

From the Writings of Billy Graham: While there are not always easy solutions to worldly problems, the greater problem of all is people who live in spiritual poverty. In God’s economy, emptying comes before filling, confession before forgiveness, and poverty before riches. Christ said there is a happiness in that acknowledgment of spiritual poverty which lets God come into our souls.

The Bible teaches that our souls have a disease worse than any dreaded cancer, heart disease, or epidemic. It’s the plague that causes worldwide troubles and causes all the confusions and disillusionments. The name of the disease is an ugly word — sin — and affects us all. Pointing people to Christ is the first step in walking with Christ who deeply cares about everything that affects us.

C. S. Lewis wrote of 19th century George MacDonald: “His resignation to poverty was at the opposite pole from that of a stoic. He appears to have been a sunny, playful man, deeply appreciative of all really beautiful and delicious things that money can buy, and no less deeply content to do without them.”

May we work at learning about the heart of God, and He will guide and make life worth living.

FGGAM News just received this news release:

Respect New Mexico Unveils Legislative Plan to Ensure State Prospers and Thrives

●      The Fair Deal will preserve New Mexicans’ shared cultural values, protect their communities, and ensure that the state thrives and prospers

●      It contains broad and bold proposals covering crime, education, economic development, and more

●      101 candidates are running under the Respect New Mexico banner to represent people over politics

ALBUQUERQUE – Republican legislative leaders and candidates from around the state laid out The Fair Deal, their vision for policies that will finally bring widespread prosperity to New Mexicans without compromising who we are and what we love about our state.

The Fair Deal includes a broad range of new, fresh and innovative ideas to preserve New Mexicans’ shared cultural values, protect their communities, and ensure that New Mexico can finally and fully prosper.

“We call it ‘The Fair Deal’ because New Mexicans have not been treated fairly by the politics of the past,” Representative Jane Powdrell-Culbert said. “The way of doing business in the Roundhouse must be changed — for too long New Mexicans have gotten a raw deal. We need a legislature that will instead give them a Fair Deal.”

“The Fair Deal represents our commitment to prosperity over partisanship, cultural heritage over tearing others apart, and protecting our communities rather than politicizing law enforcement,” Republican House Leader Jim Townsend said. “I am confident that with voters behind us our state legislature will finally respect the people it’s elected to serve and deliver on that promise.”

The Fair Deal is a contrast to the overspending, higher taxes, restrictive regulations, attacks on law enforcement, divisive social issues, and other progressive policies that have increasingly gained a foothold in Santa Fe during recent legislative sessions.

“For too long a small group of politicians have controlled how New Mexicans live, work and enjoy our beautiful state. Those politics that divides us must end,” Republican Senate Whip Craig Brandt said. “We are experiencing the fallout from complete progressive control of state government: higher taxes, reckless spending, fewer health care choices, and more restrictions on our personal freedoms. These things make us more like California and less like New Mexico. Our state can’t afford any more one-party rule – the time for change is now.”

The Respect New Mexico slate of more than one hundred Republican candidates is made up of diverse voices from across the state, including farmers and ranchers, nurses and doctors, schoolteachers and scientists. They’re non-profit leaders and small business owners, police officers and military veterans, single parents and grandparents and more. Respect New Mexico candidates represent a cross-section of caring New Mexicans and include respected former Democrats who have become disillusioned with their once-moderate party.

From Yersterday:

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18The Headline hit me Sunday morning when I picked up the ABQ Journal from our driveway before I left to preach at FBC in Reserve. The Albuquerque area is turning more and more to the Dems. Much of the more populated areas of the state are Democrats. Even if you do not agree with the Journal Poll, I am still very disappointed in the NM GOP.

Biden Holds Sizable Lead Over Trump in New Mexico. Biden 54% Trump 39%. This poll was conducted by the Journal.

I am going to lose a few more friends with this post, but I am in this for JESUS not politics! I do have feelings, so it does hurt to lose Friends, but I always say what God wants me to say…..I pray constantly. I am a free man, I answer to God, not a political party.

I have reported for years that the Republican Party of New Mexico has weak leadership, even before the current leadership. I have talked to Republicans that have run for office, and some tell me that party never got behind them in their race for Washington D.C. They got out spent by the Dems by thousands and thousands of dollars. I beleive some of the reasons the Biden/Trump poll numbers are the way they are is that the GOP does not do a good job at all in telling their story! I told a leader of the party several weeks ago the GOP needed to go on TV and radio and tell their story how the governor is hurting the state so very badly. He said they would have to raise the money. Well! why don’t they? When the governor is controlling about every facet of life here in New Mexico the best they can do is send out a news release?????????? WEAK! The governor has about destroyed our economy, she rules over God’s Church here in New Mexico, that is so very awful! The governor is on TV about very week with her COVIVD updates, the GOP needs to purchase their own TV program and present their case, to talk to the people, the GOP is not making its case to the people of New Mexico! The GOP party of New Mexico is not in touch with the people. Kicking Couy Griffin to the curb sure did not help the NM GOP in in rural New Mexico! You don’t treat your party members that way! You support them through tough times.

I supported former GOP Governor Susana Martinez, I had here on live on KKIM radio the night she first was elected. She promised me and our listeners she would put an end to abortion in the state! She lied. She held a pizza party instead, called off the Santa Fe Police, she cost the taxpayers thousands and thousands of dollars as she left office with a lot of ‘monkey business’ being done in her administration including the State Police. She left the tax payers holding the bag! Where was the GOP Leadership then? 8 wasted years of having a Republican in the Governors chair!!!!!

It was not a very happy Labor Day for many. Over 20,000 restaurant workers are unemployed in this state. What is the GOP doing about that? I had a sour stomach all Labor Day because of all those that have lost their jobs here in New Mexico and Americas during COVID!

WE NEED GODLY LEADERS IN THIS STATE!!!!!!!!! WHERE ARE THEY???????

ABQ Journal Trump/Biden Poll

Thousands of New Mexicans Unemployed This Labor Day

I am just hearing crickets from the New Mexico GOP and a few press releases.

FROM THE FGGAM MEDIA CENTER REPORT ON SEPT.5th

Alan Redpath

There’s some task which the God of all the universe, the great Creator, your redeemer in Jesus Christ has for you to do, and which will remain undone and incomplete until by faith and obedience you step into the will of God.

New Mexico is a very, very poor state. The reports I get from various organizations like the one below, basically give the state a D- or F. I love the people here. New Mexico is such beautiful state, New Mexico is where FGGAM was founded! When I travel to Reserve to preach on Sundays I love the drive and the scenery, I love the people, but so much sadness with all the poverty I see.   New Mexico is Spiritually dry as much of America is, THE GOVERNOR HAS CHURCHES LOCKED DOWN TO 40%!!! SHE IS RULING OVER GOD! IN THE WORST TIMES I HAVE SEEN IN AMERICA THE NM GOVERNOR RULES OVER THE CHURCH!!!!!!!  I weep at abortion in New Mexico, the killing of God’s babies, violent crime, poor education, suicides, drug addictions, alcoholism, child abuse, child poverty, corruption in local and state government. Crime is so bad here in Albuquerque Federal Agents have come to help us! Right now New Mexico is being bankrupted by the Governor with her lockdown, we are dying economically. JESUS is the only answer for New Mexico and America, not political answers. New Mexico does not have to suffer the way it is! There is a much better way….JESUS CHRIST! America is politicizing everything nowadays, EVERYTHING HAS GOT TO BE BIBLICAL NOT POLITICAL!!! I have lived here in New Mexico since 1995, year after year of failure, the Dems and Republicans have had plenty of time to fix the state, but both parties have failed big time. I am too simple of a Preacher I guess, as I preach JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, JESUS IS THE ONLY ANSWER!!! BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW NOT A POLITICAL WORLDVIEW! JESUS IS NOT HAPPY WITH US!!! WE KILL HIS BABIES!!!!!!!

Counties with the highest and lowest poverty rates in New Mexico

Poverty is one of America’s most vexing and poignant issues—what causes it, why does it persist, how can we end it, what defines it, and just how many people are poor? To take a look at state-level poverty, Stacker analyzed the U.S. Census Bureau’s five-year population estimates from the 2014-2018 American Community Survey (ACS) to show the breakdown of poverty across America.

New Mexico statistics:

  • Overall state poverty rate: 20% (410,389 people)
  • Child poverty rate: 28.1% (136,792 people)
  • Race/ethnicity poverty rates:
    • Asian American: 9.7% (2,985 people)
    • Black Americans: 23.4% (9,417 people)
    • Hispanic/Latin Americans: 23.9% (238,245 people)
    • Native Americans/Alaskans: 33% (64,702 people)
    • White Americans: 12.2% (94,636 people)
  • Counties with the highest poverty rate:
    • #1. McKinley County: 36.0% (25,986 people; 79.9% above state)
    • #2. Luna County: 30.2% (7,206 people; 50.8% above state)
    • #3. Socorro County: 29.1% (4,796 people; 45.6% above state)
  • Counties with the lowest poverty rate:
    • #1. Los Alamos County: 5.3% (959 people; 73.7% below state)
#2. Santa Fe County: 12.8% (18,675 people; 36.2% below state)
      #3. Union County: 14.1% (496 people; 29.5% below state

The U.S. FPL is a metric first used in the 1960s that is based on the cost of a minimal food budget multiplied by three on the assumption that food comprises a third of a household’s expenses. The FPL is used as a threshold for determining an individual or families’ eligibility for assistance programs from SNAP benefits to Medicaid. Various social services have different caps for eligibility from 100% of the FPL or higher.

In 2019, the FPL threshold for one person under the age of 65 was an annual income of $13,300; the FPL for a family of five with three kids was an annual income of $30,510.

Some say 200% of the federal poverty level is a more realistic figure for covering the cost of basic needs in the United States. None of the measures captures what is known as episodic poverty, which affects workers with temporary jobs or those in the informal or gig economies.

Poverty rates in America also reveal a disturbing racial gap, with Black Americans 2.5 times more likely to be poor than white Americans, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. Research generally points to causes like poor education systems, workplace discrimination, and high incarceration rates. The coronavirus has reached into that gap, with correlations between poverty and COVID-19 hitting low-income Black communities disproportionately hard. Experts say there is more likelihood of underlying medical conditions that make Black people vulnerable, such as diabetes and heart disease. Those communities tend to have less access to good health care and have higher populations of essential workers who cannot stay home and are forced to stay on the job and risk getting infected.
