UPDATED: Historic flooding Possible When Hurricane Sally Hits Gulf Coast, Historic Fires Burn in America

Extreme rainfall from Hurricane Sally could trigger ‘historic flooding’

AccuWeather meteorologists are predicting torrential rainfall from slow-moving Sally — up to 30 inches — will unleash a significant flooding event over a portion of the southern United States.

AccuWeather Global Weather Center – September 15, 2020 –  Portions of the northern Gulf Coast face “extreme life-threatening” and “historic” flooding through the middle of this week as Hurricane Sally has slowed to a crawl just offshore.

AccuWeather meteorologists are predicting torrential rainfall from slow-moving Sally — up to 30 inches — will unleash a significant flooding event over a portion of the southern United States.

The inland flooding threat will follow storm surge inundation and damaging winds as Sally makes landfall, likely as a Category 1 hurricane, early Wednesday along the central Gulf Coast.

Hurricane Sally Historic Rain

“Sally will be a 2 on the AccuWeather RealImpact™ Scale for Hurricanes, not only from storm surge flooding along the central Gulf Coast, but also the risk from excessive rainfall across the interior Southeast states,” according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Adam Douty.

The AccuWeather RealImpact™ Scale for Hurricanes is a 6-point scale with ratings of less than one and 1 to 5 that was introduced by AccuWeather in 2019 to rate tropical systems based on multiple impacts, rather than just wind, like the Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale does.

A repeat of the magnitude of Harvey’s flooding in 2017 is not anticipated, but Sally’s forward motion will remain slow following a pause along the central Gulf Coast. Sally will unload excessive rainfall on portions of southeastern Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, the Florida Panhandle and the Carolinas as it takes a slow, curved northeastward path through the end of the week.

Harvey deposited up to 61 inches of rain in southeastern Texas over a several-day period during late August to early September and claimed the lives of more than 100 people.

Hurricane Ivan, in 2004, was the last hurricane to make landfall in Alabama. The powerful storm made landfall as a major, Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, but was designated as a 4 on the AccuWeather RealImpact™ Scale for Hurricanes. Ivan is one of only three hurricanes to make landfall in Alabama during the past 31 years, following Hurricane Danny in 1997 and Hurricane Frederic in 1979.

‘Without God’s Intervention of Mercy, This Nation Is Finished,’ Says Pastor Carter Conlon

Leader of Times Square Church Invites All to Cry Out to God with Him on Behalf of the U.S.A. on Oct. 6, 2020

NEW YORK—A prayer meeting this October—open to everyone—will occur with one clear goal: to ask God for forgiveness for what we’ve done in America. For how we’ve treated others. For the ways in which our nation has turned against the Lord and squandered the countless blessings He has bestowed on us.

This prayer meeting is one day only. The sole purpose? A heartfelt plea to God for His forgiveness.

Pastor Carter Conlon, general overseer of Times Square Church, is heading to Plymouth, Massachusetts, to lead the prayer for God’s mercy on October 6, 2020. This year marks the 400th anniversary of the historic arrival of the first Pilgrims on our soil, a place where they sought to worship God freely and according to conscience. Pastor Conlon is asking everyone who believes in God, no matter who they are or where they are, to join him online as the Times Square Church Worldwide Prayer Meeting is livestreamed from Plymouth on Tuesday, October 6, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Eastern.

There is no fee. No registration is needed. “We are going to ask God for a mercy moment for our nation,” says Pastor Conlon. “God called this prayer meeting. The future of America depends on our prayers.”

Adds Pastor Conlon, “God said to me, ‘I want you to come back to this very spot where the nation began. And I want you to ask for forgiveness for what you did with the freedom that I gave you 400 years ago.’”

Pastor Conlon also notes, “We’re simply going to God, to the place where the nation began spiritually speaking, and we’re going to pray and say, ‘Lord, forgive us.’ I’m going to open by listing the sins of America, starting with slavery, and go right on through to the sins of today, including abortion.”

Pastor Conlon adds urgently, “This is a do-or-die moment for America. We either have a spiritual awakening, or we plunge into darkness. Without God’s intervention of mercy, this nation is finished. This is it. May God help us. May God have mercy.”

The Worldwide Prayer Meeting, which occurs weekly, draws prayer requests from thousands of people in over 200 self-reported countries and dependencies throughout the world. It does so via website submission form and text message.

The weekly live prayer meeting is livestreamed every Tuesday at 7 p.m. Eastern at tsc.nyc/webcasts/tuesday-7pm, and on the Times Square Church Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Hollywood Couple and Leading Homeschooling Advocates Kevin and Sam Sorbo Join ‘The Return’

After Journey from TV’s ‘Hercules’ to Cinema’s ‘God’s Not Dead’ to the Book ‘They’re Your Kids,’ Sorbos Set Sights on National Revival

NEW YORK — Hollywood power couple Kevin and Sandra Lynn “Sam” Sorbo, who married after meeting on the set of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys — one of the highest-rated syndicated TV shows of the 1990s — are joining forces with “The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance, a likely pairing for the couple who are active Christians and routinely speak out for biblical values.

The Sorbos will join several thousands of Christians on an exciting journey to the National Mall in Washington, DC, on September 26 for a landmark gathering known as “The Return” — fueled by hundreds of churches across the world. The gathering will amplify “The Return” call for all pastors, churches and families from every denomination and background to lead the United States in turning from sin back to God.

A biomedical engineering student at Duke University turned model and actress, Sam Sorbo — a leading advocate for homeschooling — went on to write They’re Your Kids, arguing that teaching children about God is critical to their ethical growth.

“We need to be teaching children that there is good and evil, right and wrong and that they should aspire to things outside themselves,” Mrs. Sorbo told The Christian Post. “Godly values and more instruction can do that. God is Truth. He is the Word.”

The Sorbos have long proven a powerful team as Christian faith leaders. Families who missed the 1990s Hercules series may remember Mr. Sorbo from his on-screen role in God’s Not Dead (2014). It is no surprise that the Sorbos are supporting “The Return” in calling America to once again find her moral footing in God’s eternal word, not in the shifting sands of relativistic humanism.

New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Cahn, who serves as co-chair of “The Return” with Pastor Kevin Jessip, says that the timing for America to return to a righteous foundation is right now.

“This is the most critical time,” Cahn said. “It is crucial! If ever I sounded the shofar, it is now.

“America is in a time of shaking, but there is hope,” Cahn continued. “The Bible gives an answer to the question ‘Is there any hope?’ The only answer is revival, and revival only comes through repentance. This is what God meant when he said, ‘If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’”

Kevin and Sam Sorbo join dozens of other Christian leaders who support “The Return.” Leaders already on board include Mike Lindell, Michele Bachmann, Pat Boone, Dr. James Dobson, Mark Gonzales, Robert Morris, Marcus Lamb, John Kilpatrick, Pierre Bynum, Gen. William Boykin, Carter Conlon, Bishop Harry Jackson, Alveda King, Anne Graham Lotz, Pat and Gordon Robertson, Stephen E. Strang, E. W. Jackson and many more supporters listed at thereturn.org/faith-leaders/.

“The Return” is set for 40 days before the presidential election, and on the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower, in the days of America’s founding and dedication to God. Surrounding the “The Day of Return” on Sept. 26 at the Washington Mall will be 10 days, known from ancient times as the Days of Awe, to be set as a special time of prayer and repentance from Sept. 18-28.

Cahn has recorded a special video about the event, which has over two million views. In addition, online resources are available, including videos and downloads for individuals, pastors and churches. Daily devotionals also encourage personal repentance and consecration.

Coordinated events within “The Return” movement will also take place throughout America’s cities, towns, houses of worship and homes, as well as in multiple countries around the world, as many believe the nation has been given a critical window of opportunity to repent and return to God.
