Could ‘The Return’ Be a Prophetic Day?

‘The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance’ Comes to the National Mall and to the World Tomorrow

NEW YORK —Could September 26 be a prophetic day, a day appointed to touch the course of America and the world?

Thousands of people think so and are converging on the National Mall for an event called The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance.” But “The Return” is not only taking place on the National Mall—it’s also happening throughout America and the world. Gatherings, assemblies, and events are taking place on all six continents and involving tens of thousands of churches. Many churches are joining together for city wide or region wide gatherings—from Brazil to India, from Germany to Nigeria, and to Israel, the Mount of Olives. They, along with families in their homes, will be taking part of “The Return” via livestreaming on the web and simulcasts on television. It is estimated that tens of millions of believers are, in some way, taking part.

“The Return” is the National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance, called for by Jonathan Cahn, author of the just released book ‘The Harbinger II’ and Kevin Jessip who’s helped organize it. “The time is critical,” says Cahn, “If we don’t respond and rise up to the call of God to return, we may pass the point of no return. America hangs in the balance between life and death, revival or calamity.”

Cahn became well known with the release of his first book ‘The Harbinger’ which reveals the parallels between the signs of judgment that appeared in the last days of ancient Israel and the same signs of judgment that have now appeared in America. “We’ve been replaying the ancient biblical mystery of judgment,” said Cahn. “And since ‘The Harbinger’ came out, the mystery has only increased, the template has continued, and America now stands in much greater danger in the years since that time.”

According to Cahn’s latest book ‘The Harbinger II,’ all signs are pointing to an ending in the window of time, a period grace, given to America after the shaking of 9/11. “This is all part of the biblical template. The nation under judgment is given a span of years to return to God. In the years after 9/11, America has not only not turned back to God, it has deepened and accelerated its fall from God. The next thing that happens in the mystery is that great shakings come upon the nation. We are now watching it happen,” says Cahn. “It is a danger sign of coming judgment.”

What does “The Return” have to do with all this? “The one hope America or any such nation has is to return to God,” said Cahn. “In the case of ancient Israel, this could take place in sacred gatherings devoted to repentance. ‘The Return’ is a sacred gathering in the nation’s capital and around the world with one purpose: return, or, in other words, repentance. The Lord gives us this promise: ‘If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.’ ‘The Return’ is based on this promise.”

Why is the timing of “The Return” critical?

Cahn said, “We are less than 40 days away from the most critical election living memory. We are watching our nation hanging in the balance, overtaken by a virus, paralyzed by a lockdown, rattled by an economic collapse, and shaken by violence and the breakdown of civil order. Now is the time we must return.”

The promise rests on the words “If My people…” Thus the people of God are critical. So the call of “The Return” is to all of God’s people regardless of denomination or background. “People are coming from all over the nation, even the world, to be part of it because there is a wide sense among God’s people that we are at a critical juncture, and only prayer can save us,” said Cahn.

As in the days of the Bible, “The Return” will open up with the sound of trumpets at 9 am ET by the Washington Monument, and then will involve the repentance of God’s people, and then their priestly intercession for America and the nations. At 11am, Cahn will be delivering a prophetic word to America. “The Return” will also involve worship, praise, intercession, the word, prophetic acts, and more. “We will close,” Cahn says, “with a mass sounding of shofars and then the ancient Aaronic blessing. Most importantly will be that God shows up in power—for revival. And that’s what we’ll be praying for. Without revival, America is lost. But with revival, all things are possible.”

“The Return” will be simulcast from the Washington Mall and streamed on the web around the country and world. Believers all over the world will be joining together in prayer in their churches, homes and cities to take part in this event in Washington D.C. on Saturday, September 26 at 9 am ET.
