Trump, Biden, or Jesus in 2020? Families Welcome New Campaign Signs to Presidential Election Race in Final Countdown

American Family Association: ‘JESUS 2020’ Signs Remind Christians to Vote for Candidates Friendly to Religious Liberty

TUPELO, Miss. — Less than 90 days out from what historians may point to as the strangest presidential election of the century, thanks to disruptions at the polls from COVID-19 social distancing protocols and absentee ballot delays forecast by the U.S. Postal Service, Americans are posting an unusual campaign sign in their front yards that reads “JESUS 2020.”

More than 5,000 of the signs have shipped to almost every region of the United States, including Alabama, California, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Texas. The campaign was launched by members of Sampey Memorial Baptist Church in Ramer, Alabama, who continue to fill orders placed through the campaign’s Facebook page.

Ed Vitagliano, vice president at American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net), says it’s hard to argue with the claim that Jesus Christ is the only hope for America in a year plagued by racial misunderstandings, violent riots, a pandemic, government overreach, and global political unrest. But that crucial fact is hardly unique to the United States or to the 2020 election.

“We certainly believe that Jesus is the hope of America in 2020, just as He was last year and will be next year as well,” Vitagliano said. “Moreover, the Savior is not just the hope for our nation, He is the hope for every nation.”

Considering that Jesus Christ is not on the ballot this November, Christians should honor God by voting responsibly for the presidential, state, and local candidates most likely to leave people free to practice the Christian faith without persecution, Vitagliano says.

“We would also encourage Christians to remember that part of the way we express that hope in Jesus Christ is in being a faithful witness in everything we do — proclaiming the gospel, serving our families, loving our neighbors, and, especially in an election year, casting a vote for men and women who will uphold God’s truth,” he said.
