When a child is born prematurely he or she is often placed into an incubator where they can continue to grow and develop until able to do so on their own. This incubator provides a safe, germ-free environment in order for the infant to thrive. It also means a time of separation from the parents who want nothing more than to hold and comfort their newborn. No matter how hard this separation is, they realize that without it, their baby might die…so they accept it, follow the doctor’s rules and try to keep a positive attitude.

Our world right now is going through an incubation period. We’ve been asked to stay inside our homes away from harmful germs that may spread the Coronavirus. For the Christian this can be a time of growth and development as for the newborn; time spent in prayer and Bible study. Our homes can become germ-free with a little extra cleaning and everything we need for developing our relationship with Jesus is found in the pages of His Word. Though separated from some family members and treasured friends, we can still reach out to them through our cell phones and see them on Facetime.

For those who don’t know the Lord, what better time than now to get to know Him? Spend a little time reflecting on your life and where you are in your personal life… Do you know for sure where you’ll wind up if you should die right now? There’s time to find the answers…and help is only a prayer away. What kind of relationship do you have with those around you? Are you quarantined alongside someone you find it hard to spend time with? Are we doing all we can to help those around us to deal with this situation in a positive way? There’s growth we all are in need of.

Although home schooling a child (or children) can be a real challenge, it can also be a chance to develop a better, closer relationship. Some moms will find it a comfort and thank God that she has this chance to spend time with her kids while others will find it overwhelming and impossible to deal with. Let’s keep reaching out to each other and finding ways to help. Just a friendly phone call at the right time can often ease a situation and give a much needed break. If we just do our part, God will take care of the timing.

Let’s not forget: Easter is almost here. On that first Easter, sin was conquered and a new path to salvation given. When Jesus took His last breath, the curtain of separation between us and the Lord was torn apart and there was no more separation. May the glory of His resurrection bring hope and a renewed spirit of faith to the whole world in the coming days! John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

Like the spring opening up before us, and as Jesus arose from the grave, when this incubation period ends, may we all see a new beginning filled with hope and faith in the One who died that we might have life. Happy Easter!
