Tim Tebow Foundation’s 6th Annual Night to Shine Prom for People with Special Needs Crowns 110,000 Individuals as
Kings and Queens

On the evening of Friday, February 7, over 110,000 people with special needs were honored and celebrated at the 6thAnnual Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Supported by over 215,000 volunteers at 721 churches, this unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, took place in all 50 US states and 34 countries.

Founder Tim Tebow said, “As I reflect on year six of Night to Shine, I can’t help but think how incredibly unique each event is around the world and even around the country. From cities like Rome, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, to Jinga, Uganda, Neply, Haiti, Kolkata, India, and Mazatlan, Mexico…the cultures are as different as the many languages, but the language of God’s love transcends them all. The reach of this worldwide movement to share Faith, Hope and Love is truly humbling and encouraging. Seeing the faces of these Kings and Queens being loved and celebrated across the globe – knowing each one of them is being shown the truth that they are significant, valuable, and worthy – I can’t help but get emotional. It’s a dream come true seeing so many people come together from around the world to experience this one night, and see each face reflect the love of Christ in their joyful smiles and beautiful spirits.”

As he does every year, Tim Tebow personally attended multiple Night to Shine proms, and began the international kick-off portion of the tour at the prom hosted by ICF Tirana in Tirana, Albania on February 3. From there, the team moved to Italy, where the first-ever Night to Shine in Rome was hosted by Nostra Signora Di Guadalupe at the European University on February 4. The last stop on the international tour took place in Paris, France, where Saint Honore d’Eylau served as host. At each location, the team took time to cheer the guests as they walked the red carpet, thank and encourage the many volunteers who participated, and live out the mission of the Foundation – to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need as they crowned each honored guest Kings and Queens.

Upon arriving back to the States on Friday, the team first stopped at Liquid Church in Parsippany, New Jersey, where they surprised several of their honored guests, and spent time praying for all involved that night, as well as being prayed over by one of the honored queens. From there, they moved on to Union Avenue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, where they visited with a number of honored guests at a luncheon and toured their Night to Shine setup.  After stopping in Memphis, the group moved on to Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando, Mississippi, where they surprised guests getting their hair and makeup done at a community college, and posed for plenty of photos along the way. The next stop was Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama, where they attended a pre-Night to Shine party with many of the honored guests, toured their setup, and prayed for the guests attending that evening. The final stop of the evening was at Genesis Church in Tallahassee, Florida, where Tim walked a guest down the red carpet, met several guests in their animal therapy room, cheered on guests participating in karaoke, and personally announced them all as Kings and Queens of the prom. He also took a moment to explain why Night to Shine began six years ago.

“In our society, red carpets typically are used to show value and significance. Each one of you is valuable and significant, not just to our team, but to the God of this universe. He loves you, and has a great plan for your life. You are not just a King or a Queen tonight, you are a King or Queen every single day of your life because that is how God sees you,” Tebow shared with the guests.

In addition to Tim’s personal appearances at multiple locations around the world, the foundation also supported the hundreds of churches by providing financial grants to churches in need of assistance, providing prom kits including décor and gifts, and connecting each church with a foundation staff member throughout the preparation process. This and more was made possible once again by the support of longtime official Global Partner, American Residential Services, along with first-year official Global Partner, OneShare Health. Their commitment to this special evening ensures the sustainability and growth of Night to Shine for many years to come.

With plans for Night to Shine 2021 already underway, the foundation anticipates many more to join the fight in changing the narrative for people with special needs. To find out more about Night to Shine, the Tim Tebow Foundation, or become part of the movement by financially donating, please visit www.timtebowfoundation.org.
