Education and Family are two of the seven “Mountains of Cultural Influence” the National Day of Prayer Task Force continually encourages, engages, and equips our prayer partners to intercede for throughout the year. These prompts allow everyone to pray for every age in this generation. Parents, grandparents, and other family members are always asking us for help in praying for the younger generation and you might be surprised to find out that the younger prayer warriors also ask us for help praying for the older. It is not just family members praying for one another, although that is vital, but it is also neighbors, the marketplace, church, and the whole community and nation praying for one another to bless God and spread His glory together. The younger is not the “next” generation, they are a part of this “NOW” generation; today’s generation of all ages and stages of life with various experiences and expressions of prayer and the love and message of Jesus. We have been especially blessed and delighted to have children on our monthly “Prayer for America” call that have been leading various segments in praying for America. It is essential that we pray for one another and tell one another of God’s mighty acts; “speaking of the glorious splendor” of His majesty. This gives hope, power, and celebration for all that God has done and is doing in us, through us, and around us.
We were pleased to partner in prayer with the Association of Christian Schools this past week to pray for hope and their #SchoolsthatPray day of prayer. We pray for all schools; Public, Private, Home and Christian. We are grateful for the many special days that spotlight prayer and highlight ongoing prayer for campuses and on campuses across America and around the world.
We would also encourage you to join us on February 27th for the Collegiate Day of Prayer for a united, multi-generational day of prayer for revival and awakening on college campuses in America. Please adopt at least one campus to pray for, KEEP praying for, and if possible, to go pray ON the campus. We learned about many campus ministry opportunities on our Pray for America: Education bus tour in 2015. We want to urge you to connect with campus ministries on the campus to find out what their prayer requests and needs are to serve and reach their campus. Talk with other neighbors or your Pastor, small group or others about meeting some of those needs, hosting meals or fellowships, being a mentor, opening your business to internships, etc. If you have ever thought about reaching the nations, it just may be that the nations are in your reach with the International studies programs on the campus within a few miles from you. Pray for them and consider reaching out to them about being a host family, mentor or church to their program as well. Your kindness could touch the hearts of the visiting student and show them the love of a disciple of Jesus. It is important to pray and record our progress. Let’s pray together now: Lord Jesus, thank you for being our Teacher! We are Your disciples; your students, pupils, eager to learn from You every day of our lives. We know that prayer, showing your love, and sharing Your gospel message of hope and salvation is Your assignment for all of Your followers at every age. We ask that You prompt us to pray every day for one another, for every person made in Your image who needs to know You and for those who know You and are making You and Your wonderful works known. Let our lips flow with the message of your glorious splendor throughout our days.

About the National Day of Prayer
The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
