*SIGH* It is Christmas *SIGH*

“For unto to us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given” . . .” yes, but then, “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die” . . . *Sigh*

Christmas time is here, but not everyone feels the cheer of the holiday.   One who was deeply loved is not here anymore. Oh, how that word hurts . . . “anymore” . . .   A small piece of our self has gone. A part of one’s life and being is gone. That companion of life is not by your side . . . anymore. We’re not all here . . . anymore.   The one you love is not here . . . Sigh.

The first Christmas after losing that one loved is awkward, even troublesome.   Everything within you resists celebrating, but for the sake of other loved ones, you press on. You put on that attempted smile, and you know everyone knows.

It will hurt, yes it will have moments of pain, there’s no denying. This Christmas, you did not purchase that special something to give that special one. You will miss the surprise at their receiving. That place they always occupied is noticeably vacant. The emptiness screams at you. You find yourself looking back at that spot and each look draws yet another sigh.

Memories of past Christmases with your loved one, steals the joy of the present. But, beloved, you will survive the day.   You may even find yourself beginning to laugh with and at loved ones who are with you. You hope that no one notices that your laughter brought tears, and nearly turned to sobs. Then you sigh once more. They seem to come at closer intervals as the day moves on.

Dear believer, do not forget the words: “For unto to us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given.”   They are not just words they are the reminders of the first true gift of Christmas.   In your moments of missing one who is not there, recognize the Presence, unseen Presence so wondrously soothing and comforting. Recognize His Presence. He is here, nearby, and He is real. He will hold you up, clear your eyes, and warm your heart. His comfort is always with you wherever you may be. You are never alone, your personal Savior and LORD is there.

My friend, when you recognize the Presence that is with you, you may find yourself letting out another sigh, not one of lamenting, but the sigh of calming Peace, even Joy.
