5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:4-7)
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the Truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, let every one that nameth the Name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2 Timothy 2:15-21)
Every true believer, (Christian), has all the power of the universe within them, at all times, by the Holy Spirit. However, the average believer is not “walking in the Spirit”, “abiding”, or allowing the power of the Spirit to flow through their lives.
We are blessed in that we always have God’s strength and help to get us through the difficulties of life, but He rarely works through an non surrendered will. “Ye, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For Thou art with me.”
The words, “I will”, indicate that there is a choice (or surrender) of the will to step out into whatever life places before us, good or bad, trusting in the ever present presence of the LORD to guide, protect, encourage, and strengthen our resolve to please Him from our love for Him.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)
Paul had just spoken of the extremes of his life; the good things and the very bad things, and he came to this conclusion: “I can do all things . . .” He is speaking of his own surrendered will (willingness)to do whatever the LORD allows into our lives. After surrender (total), He gives strength to back it up.
