Nowhere Else to Go

by Joni Eareckson Tada

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

John 6:68

In your prayers today, remember your brothers and sisters across the world who struggle daily with severe, mind-bending, chronic pain. Even now, at this moment, there are those living very near you who are at their wit’s end. No pain medication, no position in bed, no homeopathic treatment, and no surgery will help. Still, those who rely moment by moment on Jesus have not given in to despair. One woman in this condition quoted from today’s Scripture: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

It’s true for all of us, no matter what situation we are in. At the end of everything, there is Jesus—Alpha and Omega, First and Last, Rock and Salvation. If you find yourself in a dead-end situation, don’t run from Him. Don’t turn your back to Him. Don’t head in a different direction. Simply put, you have nowhere else to go. Trust anew in the One who has the words of life eternal.

Lord, how could I ever live a single day without You? How could I maintain hope for one moment? There are no dead ends with You. Even death itself is a gateway into real, glorious, never-ending life. And relying on You, day by day, moment by moment, means I must remain close to You.
