Thought of the day:
A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit. Reference Proverbs 15:1,4 NKJV

It’s so easy to find a person’s faults. We tend to navigate towards negativity. Usually when we do, we may fall into tearing that person apart and belittling them. We pick and we prod and we can make that person feel bad. It could be because there is something we see in them that we have dealt with or are dealing with ourselves.

Let’s ask ourselves something, why are we beating up our brothers and sisters? Why are we focusing on the bad? Why are we tearing a person apart? Are we not called to build others up?

This is something here that Solomon is addressing in the beginning of Proverbs 4. He is encouraging us to not tear apart people nor to speak badly about them. Instead, we are to lift them up, encourage them to do what is right, and, get ready for this thought, speak kindly about them to others as well as to them. Why? Because God’s Love has done the same for us. We were once like that but now we are renewed and have changed.

In thinking about this, it is good to reflect on how we would respond when we’ve been belittled or when someone has talked about where we achieve and where we can improve. People respond better to positive encouragement better than they do to a “ripping”. They know that there will not be a beating but more of a building up.

Look for something good in others today, let them know you see it, and see how they respond and grow.

If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.
It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it. We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already.
If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know. Maybe today you are struggling with something. Maybe you may have found yourself not as close to The Lord as you thought. We would like to help you in this through prayer and guidance.
