Thought Of The Day, “Who’s In Charge”

Thought of the day:

Then the Lord said to Gideon, “By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, every man to his place.” So the people took provisions and their trumpets in their hands. And he sent away all the rest of Israel, every man to his tent, and retained those three hundred men. Now the camp of Midian was below him in the valley. Reference Judges 7:7-8 NKJV

This always has been an interesting passage to me. Here we have a leader of the army of Israel. Essentially, he is the one that determines how many men are to be part of his efforts. How they are to carry them out. Where to go to do so.

When we peek into his life in Judges, we don’t see him scheming and planning on his own accord. Instead, we see him talking to The Lord. We see him praying for Direction from The Lord in what he’s to do.

Interestingly, when he’s given an answer, we are not lead to believe that he immediately obeys, we see that he puts his orders to the test to be sure they are from The Lord. He doesn’t want to be led astray and in turn doesn’t want to lead others astray. He is essentially told that he will be used to defeat this overwhelming army with a small handful of people. That’s a hard pill to swallow for us in the flesh. God wanted to show others that He’s in control.

Let’s reflect on this, are we looking to Him for Direction? Are we trusting that He’ll do the seemingly impossible through us? Even when we lack resources, will we be obedient to the Call?

He wants to show His Glory through each of us, let’s not get in His Way and go forth with what He Calls us to.

If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.
It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it. We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already.
If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know. Maybe today you are struggling with something. Maybe you may have found yourself not as close to The Lord as you thought. We would like to help you in this through prayer as nd guidance.
