Thought Of The Day, “Anger”, Men’s Daily Devotion

Thought of the day:

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Reference Ephesians 4:26-27 NKJV

Definition of anger as found at Miriam-Webster online dictionary:

anger (noun)
: a strong feeling of displeasure and usually of antagonism
:RAGE
anger (verb)
angered; angering\ ˈaŋ- g(ə- )riŋ
transitive verb
: to make (someone) angry
intransitive verb
: to become angry

Anger is on of those things that is not discussed very much. What we know about it is that it is an emotion. If we do not control that emotion, it can lead us to do things that are harmful.

When we see this passage in Ephesians, we could almost hear Paul saying, “Don’t do anything that’s foolish because of your anger”. This should give us some thought about searching our hearts.

Why are we angry? Are we short-tempered? Is there an offense that happened that we should be truly angry about or is this something because of pride?

We need to do a gut check on our anger. In doing so, we can ask Our Father for Help.

People are strange: they are constantly angered by trivial things, but on a major matter like totally wasting their lives, they hardly seem to notice… ~Charles Bukowski (1920-1994)

If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.
It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it. We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already.
If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know. Maybe today you are struggling with something. Maybe you may have found yourself not as close to The Lord as you thought. We would like to help you in this through prayer and guidance.
