Thought For The Day, “Faith”, Men’s Daily Devotion

Ted and I in Springer, NM on our way back home, April 28, 2019

Thought for the day:

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Reference Matthew 6:28-31,34 (NKJV)

So often, we still tend to worry, even though we give our requests for help to Our Lord. We wonder if He’s going to really take care of our struggles and/or needs.

This fear we have is caused because of our insecurity caused by sin. This insecurity can get us side tracked and forget that as Believers, He really does Love us and will take care of us. We may have had people disappoint us, but He never will.

Yesterday, Ted and I saw an example of this in action. Part of the message we heard, at the church we visited, was that we cannot pray and worry at the same time. This played out for us a couple of hours later.

We met a headwind that affected our gas mileage on our bikes. We had stopped in Springer, NM, on the way back, and calculated that we should wait until Las Vegas, NM, to refuel, according to what we were getting in mileage.

We were about 25 miles outside of Las Vegas, NM, when Ted told me he needed fuel. I immediately prayed and asked Our Lord to not let him run out of gas. Running out of gas along I-25 is not the funnest thing.

I even started thinking about who I knew in Las Vegas, NM that could help just in case. Ted had prayed that we would make it as well and was thinking of who he knew as well. We weren’t worried, just preparing.

We both hit our reserve tanks about the same time and knew we needed to find a gas station soon. We pulled off the nearest exit to find a gas station. I did some research quickly on my GPS app and saw we still had to go 20 miles to Las Vegas, NM, the nearest gas station. Again, we were praying and asking for Help.

This guy pulled off the freeway. Ted waved him down to ask for help. He happened to have a gallon of gas that we split between us. He pulled back on the freeway going to his destination. There was no reason for him to pull off except that he was used, by Our Lord, to provide enough gas for us to get to Las Vegas, NM. This is an example of how He will Work.

It’s ok to make plans for solutions, we just need to be willing to see how He will bring a solution. We shouldn’t worry when He’s Working it out for us. He wants us to ask Him.

Are you trusting Him with everything? Continue to look up and ask for Help.

If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.
It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it. We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already.
If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know. Maybe today you are struggling with something. Maybe you may have found yourself not as close to The Lord as you thought. We would like to help you in this through prayer and guidance.
