The Temple

Exodus 33:14 And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

John 2:19-21 “All right,” Jesus replied. “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” “What!” they exclaimed. “It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple, and You can rebuild it in three days?” But when Jesus said, “this temple”, He meant His own body.

A temple is a house or dwelling for God. It’s a place set apart for the worship of the true God. Jesus…us.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

Most of us think when we accept Christ that we’re going to be changed into a better us…a new me. When we look at it like that we make it about us. We’re to be changed into His image and to allow Him to work through us.. We’re His vessel.

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

You need to know that your body is holy, and you need to treat it that way. Take care of your body, His temple. Allow Him to live His life through you. How?

Psalm 54:4 But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive!

Romans 6:4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

Romans 8:9 and 11 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Romans 12:1-2 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice–the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Spend time getting to know Him and listen for His voice as He teaches you. Spend time reading your bible and learn what it says about who you are in Him. As your mind gets renewed, you will see as He sees. You will agree with Him on who you are and what He wants to do through you-His temple. Changed into His image from the inside out! Amen and so be it!
