We are so blessed to have another wonderful post from Sister Connie Keyohara this morning! God Bless you and yours Connie!

Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.

Bitterness starts out small. An offense that digs its way into our hearts. We rehearse it over and over in our minds, eating away with every single thought! Before we know it we’re in trouble.

A bitter person holds grudges with everyone and is extremely sensitive. Bitterness will affect you physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Adrian Rodgers is quoted as saying “The fruit of bitterness is an acid that destroys its container.”

When your heart is bitter, God will not be real to you because you’ll be too emotionally distracted. Hebrews 12:14 says  “Because hatefulness and holiness do not dwell in the same heart. And without holiness you will NOT see the Lord.”

For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin. Acts 8:23

Roots of bitterness can grow fast and go deep. They’re underground, so they’re hidden well. Hiding it doesn’t work for long because eventually they make their way to the surface.

The first step to uprooting the bitterness is to forgive. Forgiveness is just the beginning to healing your hurts. Forgiveness coupled with prayer is the key to success.

You see, delaying forgiveness only hurts you. Chances are that the person you’re mad at has no clue they’ve hurt you. In essence, you’re allowing them to live rent free in your head.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

Bitterness and love Cannot dwell together in the same heart. Each day, we must decide which one gets to stay. I choose love!

My prayer for you is that you’d pull that root of bitterness out of your life. Leaving you free from the consequences of sin.

Many Blessings,

Connie Keyohara
