Hello Everyone,
What a glorious day this is. HB 51 is dead. It failed 18-24. All I can say is God is good!
This was a long and hard battle, but the people of New Mexico united in prayer and action and all of your efforts paid off. Not only was HB 51 defeated tonight, but the sponsor of HB 90 withdrew the bill. It is tabled.
Below is the list of the vote and as before please send the Democrats who stood with us a note of thanks. Also, call them again, and this time thank them for standing with us. Breaking: Radical Abortion-Up-To-Birth Bill Defeated in New Mexico Senate
Eight Democrats vote against infanticide and abortion-up-to birth.

SANTA FE, NM — In an early evening vote, eight Senate Democrats voted against radical abortion-up-to-birth and infanticide bill HB-51. The extreme measure failed to pass the New Mexico Senate on an 18-24 vote.

Senator Gabriel Ramos stated on the floor before the vote “How can we protect coyotes, frogs, prairie dogs, chickens, but not the beating heart of a baby in a woman’s womb”?

We are so thankful to the senators who stood up for women, unborn children, and their constituents tonight to vote against HB-51. The tide is turning in New Mexico once and for all, and we embrace our diverse cultural tradition that has always celebrated Life.

We thank all of our coalition partners (Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico, Right to Life Committee of New Mexico, Care Net of Albuquerque, and the Conference of Catholic Bishops) who fought alongside us this session. We especially thank the legislators in the House and Senate who have made this a priority.It’s time to start having an honest discussion about this issue and address the concerns that most New Mexicans have. We need to work together to end late-term abortion once and for all, restore parental involvement in minors’ abortion decisions, and ensure our medical professionals’ conscience will always be protected from being forced to participate in an abortion. We will continue to work together to restore a culture of life in New Mexico and oppose abortion extremism.

HB 51 Decriminalization of Abortion was DEFEATED on the Senate Floor this evening by a vote of approximately two thirds against and one third in favor.
God bless EVERYONE involved in this effort and God bless New Mexico – and especially God bless everyone who prayed!
